Professor Krishna Vaddadi, MBBS, MPhil(Leeds), FRCPsych, FRANZCP, DPM

Research Interests:

Professor Krishna Vaddaddi is an Associate Professor at Monash University, Melbourne , Victoria , Australia, in both the School of Psychology, Psychiatry and Psychological Medicine and the Department of Medicine. He also works as a Consultant psychiatrist in the Southern Health Mental Health Programme in Melbourne, which serves a wide geographical area and over 750,000 people, and as a consultant neuropsychiatrist at Monash Institute of Neurological Diseases, with additional clinical and research interest in the epilepsy programme.

Krishna Vaddadi trained in the UK in psychiatry and obtained his professional affiliations there. He has an M.Phil from Leeds University and is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Psychiatrists and also of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He has extensive experience in research, particularly in the field of fatty acids and neuropsychiatric disorders (e.g. Huntington's Disease and Tardive Dyskinesia) and has published widely and addressed many major international conferences. He is an inventor on patent applications now assigned to Amarin(U.K.)(Selenium and Clozapine a novel drug formulation, and Ethyl-Eicosapentaenoic acid in Neurodegenerative conditions, Depression , Schizophrenia etc). Patents are filed in the USA and the EU.

Currently he is involved in two research projects:

1. The effects of supplementation with eicosapentaenoic acid in rat model of epilepsy.

2. Vitamin D levels and clinical significance in patients with chronic mental illness.
