NB: Vitamin A deficiency is not the only essential nutrient deficiency that can cause or contribute to irreversible damage to the brain and nervous system - because ALL essential nutrients are just that: essential.
Serious omega-3 and/or Vitamin B12 deficiencies can also permanently impair vision, hearing and motor control. So can deficiencies of iodine - particularly in early life.
